In a world filled with questions and mystery, there is always something new to learn. Problem-based learning is an active form of learning and requires students to hypothesize, collect data, form a possible solution, and finally test their findings to try and solve problems. In today's age, everything is accessible and problems can be solved in a matter of seconds thanks to technology. This begs the question, where is learning occurring? An answer is an answer, and once proved correct and supported by evidence, it may feel like there is little room for learning.
Problem-based learning goes beyond this standard and puts an emphasis on real-world application. Mathematicians and scientists question pre-existing phenomenons and investigate and solve problems every day. By exposing you, our students, to this methodology, we are hoping you will become accustomed to that higher level critical thinking and cognitive engagement.
